Types of Gates

There are two popular common gates. The lighter aluminium gate and the heavier steel gate. The aluminium gate is by far the most popular in the normal residential and commercial market, except for the traditional farm steel gate. Decorative steel gates are ornate and mostly grand but are not as popular due to higher costs. Becoming more popular are lasercut panels with your own design or a stock design. The gate is built with the lasercut infills fitted to the gate.

Gates also come with two additional options being swing gate or a sliding gate. The swing is common where you have the space to open the gate inwards or outwards ( be careful some council rules do not allow gates to open outwards into the street), and is moderately popular in residential applications. The sliding gate is the most popular due to its limited space requirements for open and closing.

Sliding Gate

Sliding Gate

The sliding gate in aluminium comes in a range of available colours and designs. The designs can be as plain or as intricate as your imagination. The gates can have infills in the gate for example a horse trainer may have a infills of a horse to define his hobby or work.

Swing Gate

Swing Gate

The swing gate has two options. The first option is a single  or the other option is a double gate. There are some single gates swing that do have an opening of 5 metres but ensure if your plan is to get a gate opener later on you have one that’s strong enough to take the swing. Most owners have a double gate or two leafs if the opening is over 3 metres wide.
